Another pastel completed and ready for my exhibition soon in Richmond - fantastic!

It's always a great feeling to complete a painting, especially one so admired as this one was when I started it as a demonstration a little earlier in the year at 'Ilkley Art Show' sponsored by 'The Ilkley Art Shop' in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

The two day prestigious art event was as popular as ever this year and with director and exhibition organiser Tim Tennant (owner of The Ilkley Art shop) taking the reigns it was no surprise it was so good as he is highly respected in the art trade known for putting on such a great show at the 'Kings Hall and winter Gardens' right in the centre of Ilkley.

The two day Summer event in late August is one that many different artists throughout the region (and afar) really look forward too. Big brand names turn up to display some fantastic art products for artists of all levels of ability to see, trail and buy at fab prices.

This year I had the pleasure to represent Canson (being a UK Canson Ambassador) at the prestigious art event at their stand and on also on stage with my workshop (over subscribed which was absolutely fabulous) being supported by Pip Seymour with their lovely pastels all students enjoyed painting with.

Naturally with the famous Ilkley Moor being right behind the 'Kings Hall and Winter Gardens' the workshop everyone enjoyed immensely had a moorland theme. the work everyone created in the afternoon from 1-3.30pm were fantastic. A testament to how quickly and effectively pastels can be to paint with given a nudge or two in the right direction of course!

I'm looking forward to next year already and judging by the students who came to paint with me, they are too with several rebooking already! Brilliant news!

Everything on the go, go go...

There's much going on at 'Studio Dutton' at the moment!

October 2015 promises to be another very busy month indeed with lots of paintings being sent to the framers, wrapped, stored and put to one side for our joint exhibition 'All Creations Great and Small' at 'The station Gallery' in Richmond North Yorkshire happening very soon together with everything else.

With the exhibition starting on Saturday 31 October to 11 November  a lot of preparatory work has been underway for some time for the show.

Mid October another great residential art holiday awaits in the Lake District at the wonderful Rydal Hall near Grasmere with a full class of art students I look forward to having the pleasure to teach from 12 - 16 October. The Autumn colours are proving to be spectacular this year so far and in this beautiful setting in Cumbria I just know we are going to have a super creative time together capturing them with paint and pastels - especially outdoors along the shores of Rydal Water close to Rydal Hall!

On the day I finish, teaching at Rydal HallI stay in the North to teach Lancaster Art Society some more fab techniques with pastels in the evening on the day I finish at Rydal Hall. Since I received such an enthusiastic response on my last visit to Lancaster Art Society a short while ago it gives me great pleasure to be asked back so quickly and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Not many posts or blogs from me for September as it was pretty much a 'lock down' with head down busy painting  for the show in Richmond between writing my series of drawing articles for 'The Artist' magazine to be published at the start of next year for January, February and March editions.

Art club workshops and demonstrations throughout September between my painting and article writing days kept me busy too...with lots of other projects too!

See you at the art show in Richmond - it's going to be a good one!
